Tourism Grading Assessments

Formal ‘Quality Assurance’ in tourism involves being assessed by quality assurance schemes that give visitors the reassurance that, when they see the award symbols at accommodation establishments, restaurants and visitor attractions, they will be guaranteed a top ‘quality’ visit. If we can assure visitors of a quality experience then they are more likely to return and to spread the word to their friends and family. Universal Accessibility (UA)

Universal access refers to the ability of all people to have equal opportunity and access to a service or product from which they can benefit, regardless of their social class, ethnicity, background or physical disabilities. It is a vision, and in some cases a legal term, that spans many fields, including education, disability, telecommunications, and healthcare. It is tied strongly to the concept of human rights. Universal Accessibility Assessments

The Universal Accessibility (UA) requirements deal with the suitability of an accommodation establishment (not limited to) to easily accommodate tourists who are Communication, Visual and/or Mobility impaired. These requirements have been integrated with the standard TGCSA Assessment criteria to determine the level of UA compliance across the industry. The UA assessment is an additional grading that does not affect the standard quality and star grading assessment of the property.


Meetings, Exhibitions & Special Events Venues Assessments

TGCSA MESE grading is SA’s nationally recognised standard for accredited venues and service providers in the Meetings, Exhibitions & Special Events industry. Graded venues and service providers operate to a predetermined industry benchmarked standard. This means they have processes and personnel that are competent and capable, that venue facilities are appropriate and that operationally they are compliant with all relevant legislation.


Food Service Assessments

How do you recognize a fine dining facility from a simply posh one? Is it the number of forks (more than you can count or use)? Is it the immaculate white linens and tablecloths? Or is it the Michelin star that shines like a medal of “fine dining” recognition? A fine dining facility clearly sets itself apart from other facilities on three main grounds: food, customer service and ambience. As far as food goes, this is pretty clear: the menu should give diners what they cannot find anywhere else, both in terms of ingredients, creativity and taste. Customer service must be attentive but never invasive, with the kind of impeccably-mannered staff that can only come after several years of training.


Front of House Assessments

Ever heard the term “Nerve Centre” well that’s what your front of house is. The front of house comprise of the Reception, Guest Service Offices, Porter Services, Reservations, Accounts, Tour Operators, Executive Club, Health and Recreation Centre, Facilities and Business Centre. Employees of the front of house provide the first and last impression of the hotel to your guests. It is therefore vitally important that employees display a prompt and courteous attitude to all guests and demonstrate excellent service.
